Shabby Chic

Good morning everyone, and happy Friday to all.

It has been another busy week with craft jobs, housework and yesterday we went to pick Mikey and Fran up as they have come here for a week so that Mummy Rice can look after them. Fran has been unwell and in hospital so I am on duty to administer tlc..

On Monday Elliot came round for his first Sleep over ...oh it was wonderful and he was so good...I think I spent nearly every minute cuddling him..

Back to today...it is a new Fussy and Fancy Challenge

Our host is the lovely Jules

And she has chosen Shabby Chic for her theme,,,,

And here is what I came up with...

And here is how it developed...

It really was a case of using what I had on my desk...you see this fabulous Clarity butterfly is one of our class stamps for tomorrow's Clarity Anglesey workshop.

I started with a piece of Kraft card and gave it some torn edges.

I added some Lace , embellishments and flowers .

And then placed it into my spray booth,,,and out with the spray Gesso...this is a great product...I love it

On a separate piece of Kraft card that had already had gesso added , I stamped the butterfly and cut it out.

Then added some ink using distress Oxide / Worn Lipstick

I stamped the best wishes from the Happy Birthday ribbon set, added a border , cut it out and added some colour .

I chose a lovely piece of backing paper from Graphic 45, the Botanical tea collection / Hello Friend...and distressed the edges, then some matting and layering .

Some glossy Accents for extra detail and to finish off a final touch...a metal heart that says ' Made with Love '

And it was.

And there we have it,my take on shabby chic..

I would love you to check out the other samples by the design team here http://fussyandfancychallenge.blogspot.co.uk/ and even better why not enter the challenge , you could be the one chosen for the next guest dt spot...

Now I had better get a move on, we are packing the van up and heading off to Anglesey...the dogs are so excited , they love the new van...

Let's hope the weather is kind to us...

Take care all

Have a great weekend,

Love and hugs

And relax

Good evening everyone and thanks for popping in. I hope you have had a lovely weekend and are now looking forwards to a good week ahead.

It has been another busy time in the Rice household, with workshops on Wednesday , looking after Elliot on Thursday and then up early on Friday and off upto Leyburn to set up ready for the Clarity Open day. The journey was quite traumatic with the motorway being closed so Sally Satnav took me through Leeds and Harrogate...I was so glad when I eventually arrived at the venue...

Friday was spent getting the room ready..

It all looked wonderful...

Then it was out for a meal...and what a yummy meal it was too,. The puddings were just amazing...

After a few hours sleep it was soon time to be up, showered, and off to the hall..simple you would think,..

But we had to drive through a field of cattle,,,and they decided to block the road...so who so you think got out if the car to move them...???

The big, matcho, male of the party...or the females...

Yes you guessed it...

Look you can just see Wendy and me...behind that Charolais bull...He was a handsome beast though....

And all this before 7am.... such fun...

Soon we were back in the car and on our way,

It is always great to see so many friends and to meet new ones, my table did start of neat,,,honestly

Mind you , it would never end up as messy as our Sams table,,.I was very good and lent her some stamps,,.and they actually came back clean,,,Thanks Sam

Some of my demos were using the petite leaf stencils

Some ghosting,

Some direct to stencil stamping

I love the water droplets on this one,

And the shading on this one,..

Thanks ladies for watching

And thanks Cheryl for the cake,..it was just what I needed

Everyone had a great time

Paul and Rosie looking for more cake,,,( or hiding from Barbara )

Well done to Audrey from Clarity Cumbria who won the first raffle prize , and then I do believe that Fiona from Clarity Glasgow won one too...

Soon it was time for everyone to say goodbye and make their way home.

Thank goodness that Sunday is my day off...

And an afternoon of cuddles with the little man did me the world of good.

Have a lovely week all...

Lots of do here, samples to make, and workshop prep to do as it is Anglesey next weekend...

Enjoy

Love and hugs

Happy Birthday

Good afternoon all, I hope this blog post finds you well.

It has been another busy few days making samples for the Clarity shows coming up next week. They are safely in the post so fingers crossed that they arrive.

Today I thought I would share a card with you that I made for the Hochanda shows with Rossella last week,

It features the new ribbon stamp...the Happy Birthday ..

And here is how it came about .

I started with a piece of stencil card and stamped the words...as this is such a large stamp I decided to use my stamp press. ( fantastic invention )

Next came the stencil, once in place I stamped the various word stamps using VersaMark ink, then used white embossing powder and heated it ....do remember to use an antistatic pad.

I seem to be using white embossing powder so much these days

The words now are a resist...so out with the inks..

Starting in the middle with yellow..

Then bringing in the colour from the outside.

And finally the orange ink, so that it blends with the other inks...this is a great quick way to blend .

Some black ink around the edge to add some depth...see the difference that it makes.

Some water spritzing

I drew a border with a fine liner pen and added some colour to the letters.

To finish off , yes I am using glossy Accents again....

They just dry so well...such a great look and some added interest...

A great card for a male or a female...hope you like it...

I have just been sorting out my bags out ready for tomorrow's trip up to Kendal,,.it is my monthly class at the Paper Mill Direct shop....Grosvenor House . I do love this day...one of my favourite places to visit...plus I get time with my Mum and Dad...

Although I am going to miss one of our regular ladies...Maggie has gone back to Spain for a few months...we will miss you tomorrow , lovely lady...

And finally a photo to make you smile...my little man is doing really well, feeding, sleeping and yes he was awake whilst we drove through Blackpool illuminations...

I think he is starting to pose for the camera...

Enjoy your evening all.

Much love and hugs
